Every year during the race, a few houseboats with special permission are parked along the race course a bit away from the finish line. The boat is shared with other fellow travellers. Food and entertainment is arranged on the boat making for a festive ambience in the boat while viewing the races.

While there are a couple of resorts on the race course, The Ramada enjoys the best views. Every year they convert a part of their top gallery into an in-house stadium and create amazing facilities to enjoy the race.

Watch the boat race LIVE, either from the pavilion or on a houseboat on the racetrack with other like-minded travellers and join the cheering party.
Stay in a lovely Home-stay located along the backwaters. Let your local host introduce you to backwater village life.
Watch the teams practice for the grand finale. Interact with the boatmen and learn the legends, beliefs and rituals behind the race.

The organisers will create a tourist pavilion towards the end of the race course. The pre-event line up happens here and give a good view of the event depend on the seats you occupy.

The Nehru pavilion which is at the end point of the race is the formal arrangement for tourists by the event organisers.

There are also lawn tickets/ corner tickets which meant for locals which can be purchased at village offices.

Good to Know

The Kerala boat race pavilions are always crowded which makes the experience less exclusive. Some travellers have complained of facilities like bathroom and food/drinks availability not meeting expectations.
