Detailed Itinerary

Day

1

Bengaluru – hassan

You will be welcomed at Bangalore International airport / rail station by our company representative. Depart by surface for Hassan, the base of the great Hoysala Empire in the 11th to 13th century. This region was also greatly influenced by Jainism during the period.

Travel to hassan (185 Km / 3.5 hours)

You may opt for a quick sight-seeing of Bangalore city or head straight to Hassan and relax for the day

experiencing heritage at belur/halebid

Today, visit the most celebrated temples of Belur and Halebid which together give the name ‘Southern Varanasi’ to the region. The strikingly beautiful 11th century Hoysala temples and Jain shrines will leave you spell-bound. Head over to Mysore for the night.

At the Channekeshava Temple: A marvel that took 100 years in the making

This exquisite temple, commissioned in 1117 AD, was built to immortalise the Hoysalas’ victory over the Cholas. The angled bracket figures of women in dancing poses, the exquisitely sculpted pillars and the platform carved with 650 charging elephants in black stone will keep you intrigued. Be there for the lively pujas as this is the only Hoysala site still in daily use.

Exploring Hoyasaleswara temple: It never got completed!


Yet another masterpiece of Hoysala architecture for which construction went on for more than 80 years. The outer temple is richly-sculpted with pieces depicting the life of the Hoysala rulers, sages, stylised animals and flurry of Hindu dieties. It interior chiselled from black stone is marvellous. No wonder that the work on the temple never got completed!

At the ‘city of palaces’ - mysore

Today, you get to explore this ancient city, its bustling markets, magnificent monuments and more. Shop around for premium silk, incense and sandalwood which are a speciality of Mysore. After exploring Chamundi hills during the day, a magical evening at Brindavan awaits you.

Explore Chamundi hills: If you went up to the top, your nose was chopped!

Morning is a great time to start a fine half-day excursion to Chamundi Hills. Experience the panoramic view overlooking the Mysore city and explore the marvellous temple. The 1000 stone steps laid out by the Maharaja in the 17th century and the majestic Nandi monolith is a compelling sight. Enjoy shopping around for local specialities in the afternoon.

The Iconic Mysore Palace

Visit the Maharaja’s Palace: The icon of Mysore tourism

Built in indo-saracenic style with dome, arches and turrets, the palace is a treasure house of exquisite carvings and works from all over the world. The jewels studded throne, majestic durbar hall with ornate ceilings and intricately carved doors make for a fascinating sight. If you are lucky to be here on a Sunday or public holiday, the illuminated palace will be a spectacle to remember!

Also visit the Rajendra art gallery, which houses a remarkable collection of paintings form Raja Ravi Varma and other traditional Mysore styles.

Evening at the Brindavan Gardens: This place is purely magical

These gardens have been the background of many a shimmying bollywood musical number. After sunset, the special attractions include dancing fountains where coloured lights transform the place into a magical fairyland. Also visit the famous KRS dam which is an awesome sight too. Relax for the night at your resort.

AT THE ‘QUEEN OF HILL STATIONS’ - OOTY

Today, we depart by surface to Udhagamandalam (Ooty) and enjoy the ride up the hills. Get away from the plains and soak –in the beauty of the Blue Mountains. The stunning gardens, rolling hills, pine and eucalyptus forests have earned the name queen of hill stations for this place

Travel to ooty (130 Km / 3 hours)

Sight-seeing in Ooty: Botanical garden, lake, and more

Visit the famous Botanical garden built in 1847 which features a wide variety of exotic and ornamental plants. The iconic, St Thomas church overlooks the lake where boating facilities are available. You can also try horse-back riding around the lake. Visit the highest peak – Doddabetta which offers a beautiful vista. Relax for the night in your hill resort.

The day is at leisure to explore the hill station for the day and we head to Nagarhole by afternoon. Take a scenic ride on the toy train and cover the left over sightseeing destinations before leaving Ooty.

Enjoy a scenic ride on the world heritage Blue mountain railway

Experience this treasured and fabled charm of the Nilgiris in operation since 1899. A century later it continues to inspire weaving through forests, little dark winding tunnels and valleys as it traverses through one of the steepest rail stretches in Asia. The whistling, chugging and steam clacking takes you on a journey in time. Ooty to Coonoor and back would be a good ride.

Travel to nagarhole (180 Km / 4hours)

Relax at your jungle resort and soak-in the ambience

Afternoon, depart by surface to Nagarhole. On reaching your jungle resort, relax and enjoy the scenic environs. Freshen up and enjoy a campfire experience in your resort.Relax for the night.

Into the wild at nagarhole

Today you will be experiencing the best of wild experiences on offer in Nagarhole. Mild treks, boating, jungle jeep safari and more will make for a memorable day in the wild. This place is home to 60 tigers, leopard and animal sightings are really good here.

Inaugural taste of the wild: Jeep safari in the reserve

Keep your eyes peeled for action on the ground as elephants roam in wild herd and deers stare at you brazenly on your morning jeep safari. On good days if you keep low profile while crossing, you will even spot leopards or watch families of deers on the road. The best part is that fewer visitors here make the whole wild experience a lot more exclusive.

Nagarhole National Park

If you are up for it, take up on the government organised boat rides in the afternoon which will be another chance to get up and close with the wild. Relax for the night in your resort.

Today will be the last day of your tour. Have a splendid breakfast at your resort and get ready for onward journey. Check out from your resort and head to Bengaluru. Drop back at Airport with memories to last for a life time.
