You can go to the visitors centre and if interested shop around for paper crafts, ceramic and wood work. Also get view-point passes for the Matrimandir- an archaeological marvel & spiritual heart of Auroville. Great place for a selfie!

Begin the day with walks and a splendid breakfast as you explore the French quartet of Pondicherry. The unmistakable and charmingly distinct European feel of Pondicherry makes for an excellent outing.
Walk around & explore: The heritage sites of Puducherry
Start early. Walk down the Promenade for the sun rise and check out the war memorial, statues of Joan of Arc and Gandhi, and the old lighthouse.There are lots of photo opportunities as you explore the beautiful houses and buildings like Orient, Notre Dame des Anges Church or Town Hall. Better still, join in one of INTACH’s guided-heritage walks which is a great way to get stories around the French and Tamil quarters. Grab lunch at one of the fancy Italian restaurants too.

Towards evening, you can head back to the Promenade for chaat by the ocean or visit the Aurobindo ashram and its bookstall. If you enjoy cakes and pastries, head to Baker Street.

An evening exploring the attractions of the former Danish town
Your stay here is a former Danish Governor’s beach bungalow built in the 17th century (it is now a beautiful resort). The day is free for you to explore the town. Take pictures of the brilliantly white New Jerusalem church and of course, explore the old fort Dansborg and its 13 brass cannons. Laid back as it is, you’ll find enough to keep you interested just a little while longer.

You can talk to locals to find out the way they live. Spend time at India’s only ozone-rich beach which will rejuvenate and do wonders to your tired urban bodies. Watch the stars overhead as the night settles in.

A fascinating temple complex ornate by gateway towers with exquisitely multi-coloured images of gods, demons and mythical figures. Enter through the busy eastern entrance (a lot of craft shops here) and move on to see the 1000 pillar hall and the art museum. Also spend time at the massive temple tank and leave the temple through the hall with magnificently painted ceilings.
If you are interested in seeing South Indian temple rituals, then don’t miss the night ceremony here. An image of lord Shiva is brought on a chariot to his wife Meenashi’s shrine amidst much chanting, drums, horns and gathering of devotees. An absolute must-see!
